WeGame is basically the Chinese equivalent to Steam. Operated by giant Cyberpunk-level megacorp Tencent, it currently only has 220 games. But then it did only launch in September. And, the service is leaving China for the first time. Does Valve and its dominant Steam platform have anything to worry about?Hosts: Mike Williams and Gareth EvansScript by Mike WilliamsEdited by Liam McKelveySources gamesindustry.biz — VG24/7 — More VideosPodcast 70 Study says Loot-boxes are ‘predatory’ Fallout 76 won’t change Bethesda What’s Destiny 2 Forsaken all about? Competition is healthy, especially for consumers.

Tencent aka. The Devil. I would rather want to see GoG grow.

Steam already had an alternative, it's called GOG.

frankly speaking, I know it's wrong of me thinking like this, if it was a cheap company I would brand it as a ripoff…
when it's a company with money I would see it as healthy competition.

Chinese service? No thanks. I wouldn't trust a Chinese Branded phone, I don't trust Chinese branded game service. They'll be farming our data like crazy — US gov / businesses are already stealing our info, I don't want to give it directly to Tencent.

Tencent can suck a fat one. Maybe if it were another company. But not tencent.

Haha. I doubt a Chinese company that's backed by the Chinese government will be able to compete with Steam. Look at Alibaba, they blocked Amazon from coming over, instead stealing just about everything for their own Chinese Amazon-knock off.

Competition is healthy. But I would never switch over. US megacorps are bad enough. Chinese ones are much worse…

Between the CCP’s Confucius Institutes infiltrating universities around the globe and the new Social Credit Score system they are rolling out, I’m not sure that we should celebrating here. Expect the Falmer to be played by “Japanese imperialists” and the Dragonborn to be Mao himself.

If you expect TenCent to implement better policy than Valve, keep dreaming. There will now be competitors. And both of them weill release same 80 games every day.

I've been using GoG Galaxy since the Beta, I have to say, it is way, way consumer friendly.
