I wish more movies would let the engine sound be the star of the show and not cover it up with chase music. Problem is cars today don't have the muscle car sound. Everyone wants dead quite and fuel efficient.

Did Steve McQueen perform much of his own stunt driving in this classic scene?

This doesn't look like filmed in the 60s...its more of a 70s style

I love the in-car footage, kind like me shooting whilst driving/riding with the go-pro… looks uber cool when he jumps down the slope like that… (from the inside of the car), the best seat in the house- the driver's seat / riding shotgun…

Despite the name of «Bullitt», when you watch this, you will begin to think «When is this guy gonna pull out his weapon?», then «is he EVER going to pull out his gun»...but despite the implications of his name, Bullitt doesn't use his gun until the climax. Total body count isn't bad at 6.

Jaqueline Bisset, unfortunately plays a character that is just a side-note to Bullitt. Eye candy, pretty much. Her line asking him if 'anything ever gets to him' could have been asked by anyone else in the movie — his coworkers, his boss, hell even Chalmers....so she was just eye candy.
